I recently bought a new monitor for my computer. I have a setup with two 24″ screens on a extended desktop. Setting up the new screen and replacing an old 17″ Dell monitor. I very quickly found out, just how bad my screens where in the color calibration. Left monitor had a huge tint of blue, and the older screen next to it, I could now see, just how big a green tint that one had.

Working with pictures and being super colorblind, I really am not making it easy for myself. So I decided it might be time to get myself a monitor calibrator. I went out and I got the X-rite i1 Display Pro for around 1700 DKK

As backgrounds on my screens at the moment I’m using a picture in Black/White of The Charlotte that I have taken. Blue tint on one, Green tint on the other. I installed the software and plugged in the calibrator. Hung it on my screen and started the process. Takes about tw0 minutes pr. screen. And Wolla! Now have to identical (well almost, small variations but still) backgrounds in Black and white and not in any wrong color tint.

This calibrator has easy to use software, and I can recommend it for use with non professional screens like standard color monitors on your home computer. The software guides you to the setup and procedure all the way through, so there is no worries. X-rite i1 Display pro also can be used to calibrate projectors and screen based on the ambient light in the room. So far don’t really have that much bad to say about the little thing.

Why ohh why did i not get a monitor calibration before?

The Black/white picture of The Charlotte should contain no color what so ever.

It’s been a dream for me and the future of my company PanCakeBeaver.com to get a real studio. I have a lot of the equipment to stuff in there, but simply just need the space. At the moment I need to remove half my apartment if I want to set up for a studio session. So I’m determent to get a place where I can just go, and most of my stuff will just be there.

Back where I was living in Oslo, I was just a signature away, for getting my own studio in the smack middle of the city. But when my job did not renew my temp contract, I simply was not able to afford the place… So the dream kind a washed down the drain at that point.

To start with, I’m searching for a studio space, where maybe 3-5 other people also have access and use it for office as well, so we therefor can share all the expenses. To start with it might be a bit to expensive to upkeep a place of my own with the income I get. But i’m pretty sure and certain that I will be earning a lot more when I have a place to do stuff.

Some of my contacts told me about some of these shared office spaces, where you do your business from, that actually also have a studio space attached. This would maybe be real good. And being able to run my business with a lot of other creative people around me, maybe not be that bad an idea. I know the The Charlotte would love a place where she can just go, when she needs pictures of her costumes and creations.

Copenhell day one was Awesome! I arrived at the hell gates around 14.00 – 14.30 and came straight in. There was a welcoming  party made out of a handfull of zombies. They where to busy to eat my brain for some woman was trying to film them. Oh well, we are not here for the zombies anyway. Getting in there immediately saw that they have made some changes around compared to last year. The biggest change was prolly the stage where the different danish artists will be performing. Last year they where performing on a very small stage wedged in between two iron containers. And no room for people. Bad and sad. This year however, they changed the place for stage, and now they put it where the second big stage was last year. Stage two is now moved over to the other site of the main stage across the festival square. Much much much better. So now the danish band actually have a place worth there time to play on.

Great. I saw three bands this loving friday, with the sun up high and the beer cold. First band up was “Barricade” Not my kind of music, but the guys played there heart out. Tough job to be the band that opens up the entire festival.  At 18.00 my Brothers band “The Interbeing” went on stage, and there was a shit load of people there. They did a very good job and the crowd was pleased. Seen them enough times to see that it was not a halv bad show, and they poured the heart and soul into it. Of cause it’s heart to get prober sound when the wind blows and take the sound all around with it.

One of the bands i looked forward for and who played on the Main stage was the awesome “Killswitch Engage”. They did a very good job as well, and i was happy. Saturday brings a lot of other bands as well, here amongst Marilyn Manson as ending act. Friday we ended up with Slayer. I’ve ssen them before and i went homewards around midway. Only a few “Pendler” busses are in place to bring everybody home from the festival, so i wanted to be there a bit before everybody else.

Once again a very good day, with friends and beer (who are my friends except for the day after) with everything a good festival contains. Music, beer and overpissed toilets. Looking forward to last day.

Sitting on the curve in the weekend enjoying the sun for a few minutes. While sitting here i suddenly saw a sweet piece of street-art. Just ahead of us on the bricks someone had painted it over and written these words “Dine læber er liljer” translated ” your lips are lilies”
In some way i kind of like this street-art that makes you smile. So well hidden that you might not see it if you do not stop up and look on the World around you

Last monday i attended a seminar with the well know (well.. for some) Photographer Mark Cleghorn, who was on his Lastolite tour. He has been a spokesperson for Lastolite for many years, and the tour is also sponsored by them. And is of cause a big advisement for them. Of cause this is not hidden in any way, and i was there to learn how to use different products that now just happens to be from Lastolite. One of the items that i always wanted i now want even more, after being instructed in it’s use. Retail price is around 3200 kr for the size i want, and it’s called the HiLite. Basically it’s a big softbox that also doubles as a background that you can light from behind to get those hikey model photo’s that i some times aim for. But with a lot better result than a normal white background. So something to aim for, when getting a little money rolling. Mark Cleghorn is very talented, and i also bought a year subscription to his learning website www.phototraining4u.com

So, the time has arrived for me to get the mail from my service provider, that i now was able to buy the iPhone 4. Woooohoooo, so i screwed over my bank account to put in the order before it was to late. So the new wonder that i received yesterday is the 32gb black version, and let me tell you.. It’s pretty damn nice!

It did not arrive with a case though, as i thought i should. I tried to figure out if i was not eligible for a case at the Apple website. Apple have been running this campaign where you would get a free case when buying a iPhone 4, because of the signal problem it has. The iPhone looses the signal, when being hold in a certain way, and apparently it can be fixed when attaching a case. I had to download a app and then apply for a case though that, so now i’m hoping that a case will be popping in at my door soon.

I’m looking very much forward to using the phone, for i was getting pretty tired of the speed on my old phone. (The speed got killed in the OS4.0 update)

So i will be blogging about a lot more absolutely crappy stuff, with pictures straight from the phone! Woop woop, Hipsta Magic for the win (the colors look sooo awesome with Hipsta that my old one)

Okay… So I decided to give my Remington shaving machine a chance once again. I’m doing the Christmas Carol xmas show, and needed a certain set of hair and a certain amount of beard/sideburns….. This is last time I will make that mistake, trusting this fucked up machine to do the job it’s supposed to. Once again it did not work, and before I knew of it, I once again was bald…. This is not that good, for it will have grown out to the correct length before the show, so unless my character can be short haired, i will be needing a wig.. DOH.

Thanks Remington, for failing me once again. Next time I’ll be buying a product from you, it will be your shotgun for punching huge holes in your fucking shaving machine!

This Saturday we had the last show for The House of Yes. Once again I’m able to take a breather and think about what my next steps will be. But even though you look forward with joy on the stuff to come, you can’t help feeling a sort void inside yourself. You worked so hard for a projects like this and before you know it, it’s over… Just like everything at the moment, all good things comes to and end. Well…. we kind of knew it would it end. But still, you can’t avoid the void. Where are everybody?, What are they doing now? Who can entertain me in the evening now? Y0u have grown attuned to the wonderful people who makes all this happen. Same thing for me every time, and this time to.

The show is pretty much what you can call a success. Not one performance was bad, and no nights contained a bad crowd. Just wonderful people, so happy, and so am I.

All my thanks for this wonderful performance goes out to, Tina, Tiffany, Maria, Eva, Barry, Shawn, Iven, Kaan and the rest of the CTC and all who helped making the House of Yes such a success. Miss you all already. Also miss all the wonderful people i have met doing the run of the show. Own friends as well as new people. Really enjoyed the time talking to everybody that came to see the show, stayed behind, had a beer and just talked about.. well… anything.

So where do we go for beer next? and are the crown just as nice?

Dear Christina.

One year has gone by sense you left this world at the terrible military accident on 13 October 2009. Today, the family and soldiers are gathering in Rena for a memorial service in your honour. Sadly I can not be there for you, or for your friends and family when the return to Oslo.

You see Christina…  A lot has happened in the last year, and the year has gone past so fast. Only thing that has not changed are the amount of thoughts and people thinking of you. Not many people has tried loosing someone that young for reasons unknown. Even though you and I was not the closest I still feel like I know exactly who you where. Might be the effect you had on Maria or just any other person that you ever encountered. One thing I can truly say, is that not one day goes past, where we are not reminded of you or thinking of you.

Many have felt your presence, and we are all aware that you are with us. My biggest regret this past year is that i have yet to visit you resting place. I have not yet been by you sense we said goodbye. I missed the chance before moving back to Denmark. But then again i also know that you are with me here in DK as well as with Maria in Oslo. So you are really not that far away.

But Christina. I just wanted to let you know we miss you all. Yes I know I did not know you the best, but by some reason I miss and think about you just the same.

So we are 3 days before the premiere of the “House of Yes” at krudttønden” We moved in to the stage yesterday, and the stage has almost been completely build thanks to the wonderful helping people that came and made it happen. I finally got my costume and are now ready to fine tune my performance. Now i just need to get used to shaving my face every second day, for Marty the character i play, can’t have a beard. I’m not that much around these days, for my job and theater takes up pretty much up all of my spare time. The play itself is really not that long, so i actually have some time if i can find anyone who want to join me for something in the late hours of the day.
