I recently bought a new monitor for my computer. I have a setup with two 24″ screens on a extended desktop. Setting up the new screen and replacing an old 17″ Dell monitor. I very quickly found out, just how bad my screens where in the color calibration. Left monitor had a huge tint of blue, and the older screen next to it, I could now see, just how big a green tint that one had.

Working with pictures and being super colorblind, I really am not making it easy for myself. So I decided it might be time to get myself a monitor calibrator. I went out and I got the X-rite i1 Display Pro for around 1700 DKK

As backgrounds on my screens at the moment I’m using a picture in Black/White of The Charlotte that I have taken. Blue tint on one, Green tint on the other. I installed the software and plugged in the calibrator. Hung it on my screen and started the process. Takes about tw0 minutes pr. screen. And Wolla! Now have to identical (well almost, small variations but still) backgrounds in Black and white and not in any wrong color tint.

This calibrator has easy to use software, and I can recommend it for use with non professional screens like standard color monitors on your home computer. The software guides you to the setup and procedure all the way through, so there is no worries. X-rite i1 Display pro also can be used to calibrate projectors and screen based on the ambient light in the room. So far don’t really have that much bad to say about the little thing.

Why ohh why did i not get a monitor calibration before?

I bought my first SLR camera from my photo teacher back in 2001. It was a Good old Olympus OM10 and I loved it like crazy. I still do even. It’s always been there, hanging about 40 cm. from my head sitting at my computer. I got a “upgrade” when I got the Canon 200V a fully automatic monster back in 2002…. Still analogue. In 2006 I got my very first digital SLR. The Canon D20, and upgraded again in 2009 with Canon 5D mark II.

Well, in the moment my good old friend who I look at everyday, is assisting my character in the play “Calendar Girls”. Sitting there fumbling a bit around with the camera checking the inner workings, I found this sticker where the film is supposed to be. The sticker says “Foto Østerport, Silkeborg tlf (06) 82 11 12.
This made me think briefly about the life my camera had before it got to know me. Who was the first owner, who loved it first, and why did it get sold in the first place “or stolen?” And when? I meen the phone number type is not even being used in Denmark anymore, and I don’t know if the photoshop where is got sold even is there any more. Well….. Just got me thinking a bit.

Iv’e been using a new app the last couple of weeks. It’s called AppZapp. This gives you a super overview of the many different apps out there. It can show you a great graph of price changes on apps. Show you the most popular apps from all around the world, and not just you own region. Or it can just show you a list of apps that are free at the moment. The last option is great if you want to try/get new stuff to play with, utilities or more for free. The standard version is free, and there is also a pro version, but don’t actually now what this version does compared to the free one. Attached are some pictures of the AppZapp app.

Copenhell is over for this year, and what a blast it was. Saw great bands like Saxon, Meshuggah, korpiklaani, Immortal, lamb of God and last Marilyn Manson. After arriving at the festival and regenerating with a cold beer, I sat in the dried grass hill and stayed there for about 4 hours. (of cause it resulted in a sunburn on my arms and one side of the face only) first band was up, Saxon played, beer was cold, the heavy head from the morning was gone, and friends had arrived. All good. The day progressed and we enjoyed the very good weather. It was not until later the late evening that the weather turned to he worse. Lucky for me I got my sweater for warmth and my raincoat with me this time, so I put them on at the appropriate times.
This evening was also the night where the main attraction was going to play, so we got up to the main stage, so we could get good spot before before show start. So we was there about 30 minutes before Marilyn Manson got on.
Concert started and it was great. We rocked and rocked, even while the weather was pissing on us from up above. At one point Manson threw his water bottle in a high arc over his should an towards the audience. I could see the bottle coming straight for me and my friends, and my friend also caught it….. with his face.. SMACK..
All in all, this festival has been very good. Better than last year, and everybody has been looking out for each-other. So if any family festival Copenhell should be it.

Copenhell day one was Awesome! I arrived at the hell gates around 14.00 – 14.30 and came straight in. There was a welcoming  party made out of a handfull of zombies. They where to busy to eat my brain for some woman was trying to film them. Oh well, we are not here for the zombies anyway. Getting in there immediately saw that they have made some changes around compared to last year. The biggest change was prolly the stage where the different danish artists will be performing. Last year they where performing on a very small stage wedged in between two iron containers. And no room for people. Bad and sad. This year however, they changed the place for stage, and now they put it where the second big stage was last year. Stage two is now moved over to the other site of the main stage across the festival square. Much much much better. So now the danish band actually have a place worth there time to play on.

Great. I saw three bands this loving friday, with the sun up high and the beer cold. First band up was “Barricade” Not my kind of music, but the guys played there heart out. Tough job to be the band that opens up the entire festival.  At 18.00 my Brothers band “The Interbeing” went on stage, and there was a shit load of people there. They did a very good job and the crowd was pleased. Seen them enough times to see that it was not a halv bad show, and they poured the heart and soul into it. Of cause it’s heart to get prober sound when the wind blows and take the sound all around with it.

One of the bands i looked forward for and who played on the Main stage was the awesome “Killswitch Engage”. They did a very good job as well, and i was happy. Saturday brings a lot of other bands as well, here amongst Marilyn Manson as ending act. Friday we ended up with Slayer. I’ve ssen them before and i went homewards around midway. Only a few “Pendler” busses are in place to bring everybody home from the festival, so i wanted to be there a bit before everybody else.

Once again a very good day, with friends and beer (who are my friends except for the day after) with everything a good festival contains. Music, beer and overpissed toilets. Looking forward to last day.

Here we go again.

Why Not Theater proudly present “Desdemona” A play about a Handkerchief.  This time we play at Bådteatret i Nyhavn. This is a funny comedy about the lady’s from Shakespeare’s Othello.  The last time i helped Why Not Theater with sound, light photo and more was when we did “Vita and Virginia” at Café Teatret.

Again i will be helping out with running the light, sound and Video. Of cause it’s not the same as being on stage, as i prefer and long for but it beats not doing anything theater related at all. Well do buy a ticket and come and say hello.

Being X-mas and all, all the creative people who make stuff they made them selfs, comes out to play. And markets spring up all over time. Some make drawings and paintings, others make earrings and hats or even fruitbaskets. We visited a friend to day at one of these markets. She made the brand foxlicious. So brother was attending the musical competition Emergenza last night. It’s time for the semifinals and the evening was set in the venue. Lille Vega. 8 bands was performing for the audience favor. They had the perfect playing time, set at 22.30. When Mindscape (it’s the name of brothers band) started their concert it did not take more than a minute before the room was packed.

The concert ran as clockwork and only a minor sound-failure in the beginning with no bass Sound present, but was fixed within a minute.  At the end of the evening the judges counted all the votes, with turned out so well, that Mindcape won the Semifinals and is going to play the finals in Store Vega late May. Two out of the 8 moved on to the Finals, but the other band i voted for only got a 5′th place. They played a rock concert, but you could feel the lack of audience at that point, for they where the very first band to go on.

I’ve invested in the newest version of the Xbox, and there for selling of my older one. There is nothing wrong with the older one at all, but the new one do has some updates to it that feels a bit more appealing to me. It smaller, less loud and uses a bit less power. Plus having it online as i have, the harddisk size is bigger as well. The Xbox 360 I’m selling of is perfectly fine if it’s only to be used as an Arcade machine with no need for online gaming.

To celebrate the xbox i also wanted the entire Drumset rock band kit, and sense i already have one guitar i only needed a drumset, an extra guitar and the game “Rock Band”

I looked at guitars and they all costed about 850 kr for the guitar alone, for the only ones you could get where special editions and crap like that. But found out that for about 350 you could buy “Guitar Hero: Metalica” that included a guitar… Well no need to think about that one. So only the drums left.

Coolshop.dk where i do all my gaming purchases have the drum set for 149 kr. Not bad… not bad at all, but then i would need to get the game on the side somehow. This looks to be harder than first anticipated. Apparently that game is not to dig up anywhere….. But then i saw that coolshop had a kit, where you would get the game “Rock Band 3″ and the drumset for 450 kr. And according to the delivery status the kit sets would be delivered within the week. Woooo hooooo, Rock Band FTW…….

Over two weeks after…. and I’m still waiting for the drums and game to be delivered…. I got the Xbox, Metalica and extra guitar, but no drums to hit yet… So I’m using the guitar to play my Rock Band Blues….

Thursday i started to feel sick, and i cried loudly from All openings. Yes sir. I still managed to go to work in the morning but only a few hours before loosing my guts on the back room floor. Went back home and fell asleep again. Friday i did feel a lot better, and managed work together with theater and feeling like a new person. The weekend i could only just notice that i had been sick as a dog. So why oh why am i feeling like shit again today? I had to cancel work. Woke up, feeling this “lump” in my chest like something just waiting to jump out. I got up, took a shower, and started to feel even worse… Texted my boss and got back under the covers. Lucky for me, Vita and Virginia is not playing today, so i can this time around relax completely.
