Some time ago PanCakeBeaver had a project, that i have totally forgotten to post the results of! The project was to snap photo’s of a Ninja, when he was not out sneaking about and killing people or even fighting away Pirates.

When we finally had the caught one, we made an agreement for a weekend, where we would up at the Ninja’s House. We brought the studio lamps together with the camera for we where shooting indoors with only a small amount of natural lighting coming in from the window. I managed to snap some shots while the Ninja was having his morning tea, with no lights added. We later taped up the window to control the light our selfs. All in all a good day to portray the “Everyday Ninja” More fun Photoshoots like this please.

I could tell you who the Ninja is, but he would kill me, and then come after you…..

It’s been awhile sense i had a good concert shoot. Lucky i had a chance of shooting Sleep Party People, when they where on their first tour and arrived in Oslo (you can see them by pressing here) But now i have two shows to look forward for. I actually don’t know if I’ll shoot at both shows, but you never know. It’s my brothers band “The Interbeing” who has some upcoming concerts. The events are arranged by different people, like the 30′th of October it’s a release event for “Psy:Code” first music video. I have had the pleasure of shooting Psy:Code for different events, including a band photoshoot, and latest when Slayer and the unholy alliance had their tour and played here in Denmark. Psy:Code was the Danish warm up band for the entire event. You can see pictures on the menus from Psy:Code as well.

I’ve used this morning to upgrade my homepage and web galleries so the pictures are easier to both organize but also for you to find what you are looking for (or just when browsing) Normally i would make a slideshow in Lightroom and upload that gallery, and then updating the HTML pages myself with the Thumbnail picture and text. But installing NGgallery for WordPress made this entire process obsolete. Now i can manage, add, remove rearrange and upload just with a few clicks of the mouse, Brilliant.

In the past i always wrote what venue the different bands played at with the text link, but i have decided to cut it out, for id does not matter that much. But i have kept the dates. I do believe that dates are important. They are impotent because a band might evolve (or dissolve) or change out band members. So having a look at my pictures you can see how the band was looking in 2007.

I have also decided to keep the 3 categories that i have being; Photoshoots, Theater and Live concerts. But i have no worries here for the new gallery makes it so easy to change if needed. Well go have a look up in the Photography section of the menu.

I’ve started to search for places where setting up a studio is acceptable. Found an okay sweet spot, but i have no intention to pay 4500 kr for 30 m2. I might need to look a bit out center City
The requirements i have is beside that room itself must be suited for a photoshoot, i need access to bathroom (shower not nesecarry) need no kitchin access. Has to be easily accessible by public transport. I was thinking about looking by the station Helsfyr. I pass that place twice a day and it’s easy to get to.
And the place must have power as well. So beside rent, the power needs to be payed.
Reason for All this is beside having a studio made, is that i’m starting to miss a place to go to after work. Where i can go be creative, maybe run the entire PanCakeBeaver operation from. Something not home and not work. I’ll keep you updated how the search pans out. Uhh almost forgot! I’m not alone with this, Gf is in on a part of the location as well, and thinking on maybe getting a 3th partner for the room as well.

continuing from last post, where Gf and i was Shooting for makeup lady Guri Lotte. 2′end assignment today was for our own sake. Maria (Gf) had a studio booked at her School Bilder Nordic. We had a friend of her Therese assist as a model. Main pupose was to fiddle around with lights and also Gf had to take a couple of pictures for her own School assignment. We used the schools flash equipment and not my own. Okay stuff, but it has been used a while, and you Can really feel that when using it. Studio was small but with high ceilings. Well attached is some of the shots from the second photoshoot of the day.

This Saturday the Gf and i was having a photoshoot. Well… She had two photoshoots and i was only assisting. I did get to shoot some pictures myself. The first shoot was for a makeup artist. She has a School assignment from her school. Her name is Guri Lotte (don’t have a website). Her assignment was makeup for a wedding. We shot some pictures inside with my two portable flashes and softboxes. And then we moved outside and somehow the weather was bright and sunny……. Like the ONLY day in november, how lucky was that! We shot some beautiful pictures out as well. Sense both Gf and i are relative new to flash work we still have a lot of stuff to learn. But attached is pictures of the first shot. Belief we got out with good results.

Yesterday when i wanted to set up my photoshoot gear, i used half the Day on trying to set up the D5 with a tethering connection to the pc, but before i go on let me explain what tethering means. Tethering is made from the words “tied up” but what it means when shooting Photos is that you connect you camera straight to the computer, so the secound you take the picture, the picture is visible on the PC screen, the model and yourself are able to see the photo and edit, delete straight away. Also the camera use the computer as harddrive, and not the memory card at All.
But back to the beginning the two times i bought a cam, the box came with a cd. I have used this cd for anything sense i edit my photos in other stuff than canons editing software. Now i wanna set up tethering and thought my editing software had the feature to do it. But nooooooo… Okay try to look for the cd and soon realize that i might not have brought either cd’s with me to Norway, DOH!!
I start cruising the Internet for free software. After some time i have to forfeit. Apparently only stuff for Nikon and Sony are being made, sense Canon already supply a free software with their camera…. Software that ARE ON THE CD’S!!!1!one
But how free is that software really? On the canon website you are only to download an update, that requires the cd in the drive to install…. DOH, DOH DOOOOOOH!! I also read somewhere (not confirmed) that you have to pay Canon a good deal of mullah for Them to sent a new cd. No download what so ever…. Now i at least Found out what the Cd’s was good for….

On side note, i did get it to work, but not near as optimal as having the Canon software…. Sigh…

So i finished the photosssion and had decided it was only gonna be head shots. I wanted to test light and effect of makeup. The pictures and light came out pretty good, so i’m happy with the output. Next time i have a wish to take the makeup more to the extreme! More colorful lip gloss, more color on the cheeks, better contrast on the eye shadow, just generally more makeup. No wonder that over half of the photoshoot is spend in the makeup room. It can reeeeeally take some time. Well here are a couple of mugshots from the shoot.
