The hours before the storm

The hours before the storm

It’s Wednesday and I’m having a brief moment to collect my thoughts and prepare mentally for the next many days I have ahead of me. Tonight we have the premiere of The House of Yes.  I need to prepare a lot for this performance, for i have a lot in my mind at the moment. Lucky i have the day of from today, so I’ve been able to sleep a bit longer and just relax at home.

First i need to prepare for the shows that’s coming up. I will be going straight from work and straight to the theater for the show. So i will have no time in between to do shopping, cooking or just relaxing. I I’ve spend this day to by small things like, fruit, pasta and rice etc, so i have something to eat when i get home late in the evenings. It can be hard to go without food after a day from 08:30 till 22-23:00 in the evening. Long days, but worth it all.

As a part of my “warm up” just before the show, one of the methods I use is music therapy. To but it short, even if i had had a shitty day, feeling sad, a lot of my mind etc. I put on my headphones and I literally blast the crap away. I run the music on full power and totally disregarding that it might actually hurt my hearing. I do this for at least 5 minutes or sometimes if I need to do a physical warm up, then I’ll let it run for about 15 to 20 minutes. The music is often very hard and powerful music with a lot of (i sometimes uses my brothers music from the metal band The Interbeing) The music allows me to relax and clear my head, forget about everything and everyone. Forget about the thoughts running in my head, the people i miss, the people i hate and even let’s me forget about myself. It’s just me and the music. I don’t listen to the lyrics but more the power of the music. I’m recharging my batteries so to speak. Used this method sense 2005 and it works for me.

Well i guess this I why i also write this blog, so I don’t need a shrink… I have a lot of things I need to get blasted out of my head, if I’m needed to be someone else on stage. Gf and I ended the relationship two weeks ago, and I’ve been shattered into pieces. I’m trying to piece back together my mind, and am yet to be successful. I can’t deny that I don’t miss her and think about her, but I’m also aware that it might be for the best for both of us. She started at the School in , and got to like it so much, that the choice of moving back to and live here fell apart… I understand that she don’t wanna change school. I understand that it’s to hard that I’m not around when needed. I understand that she might not even want to come to DK when school is finished. I understand that it is for the the best, when we’re so far apart, and the future is a mist. But I’m yet to understand that’s it over after almost 4 years with two years together. Can’t say i don’t miss her or the two guinea pigs.  It ain’t easy, but i suppose it’s not supposed to be.

Attached pictures are shot by Iven Gilmore and are from the house of Yes.

Hello, tap-tap, is this thing on?

Hello, tap-tap, is this thing on?

It’s September, and it’s been a long time sense I’ve written anything. It’s time to start up again and starting out with a short update of what has happened the last couple of months.

During the summer i came to the decision to move back to The Motherland. I have had no job after i stopped at Elkjøp in February, and it just got to me. The reasons for moving back has been stacking up during the last year, and i decided that this was the best thing for me to do. My Norwegian way of life lasted for one year. Many might say that one year is not enough time to start up from fresh in a new place, and i agree with them. One of my former colleagues from Finland had to use 4 years to get attuned to her new life in Norway. As said the reason are there, where the main one is my theatrical work i do in . Not gonna get in details at this point.

My life in Norway has been a huge roller-coaster of emotions, thoughts, events and life changing things. I have met a lot of new people and lost some of them again. I’ve made new friends that  i ain’t gonna let go so easily. And i have had a wonderful life with Gf and her family. Gf has been my brightest point in Norway, when things seemed pointless and hopeless. You could say that with the events that took place like loosing our loved friend Christina Rødstøl to the terrible accident in October 2009, not getting my contract on the job renewed, being unemployed, figuring out more meaning than 42, getting King as the newest family member, loosing and everything else, might just have brought us closer together. All in all, it really sucks, that at this moment, she has not been able to come back with me to Denmark. All good things are worth waiting and working for. (more to come on this subject, just not right now) So status is now; me back in the apartment from where we moved in August last year.

After the decision was made to pull the anchor and return home, i applied for a job, went to the interview the week after. 4 hours after the interview i had the job. So what went wrong in Norway?, where i tried so very hard for 7 months? (yet another blog post to come) I got hired for working in Kamerahuset.dk Selling and helping people with their questions and purchases of digital cameras. Not my only function here, and i’m rapidly growing in the field of responsibilities. I was hired for start August 2, and have now been there for 1½ months. Once again I’ve met new people and have some awesome colleagues. Looking forward for the next long period of time, as i can hear my knowledge and mood grow for the better…. Just wish Gf was here to share the joy with me. (not that she is that far away, long live Skype!)

The same week i arrived at Copenhagen i also got hijacked for two plays with my lovely theater group The CTC. We are doing a called “” and straight after that, we are doing the Christmas play/musical “A Christmas Carol” looking very much forward to do these two play, for i have had no acting involved in my life for the entire time in Norway.

When i arrived in Copenhagen i pretty much just had my suitcase with cloth and my laptop. And finally just last i visited Gf and Gf-dad who was having his birthsday, in a van to pick up the rest of our stuff and my electronic . I have been living on the couch of my loving family for the first month and just got my own place back this September. It’s all good.

Well this was as said just a quick update that i have started to write again, just as i used to. A lot of exiting things has been popping up that i wanted to write about; Food, , gadgets and of cause , so hopefully i will be writing on a daily basis again.

Love ya all -  Tai out.

Eurovision 2010 final

Eurovision 2010 final

The day for to held the Eurovision song contest 2010 arrived, and Rybak, last years winner can now pass on his 1′st place.  And for who? Let me tell you (if you don’t already know) Germany! Well congratulations Germany, you had the lowest odds on my betting site because the bookies thought you would win, and win you did.

Remember my top 3 list from last post? 1; Belgium, 2: Germany 3: Turkey

If not Belgium had been pushed out the couple of minutes, i whould have had a perfect top 3 list. Not in the right order, but all of them in the top 3, so I’m actually rather proud of guessing so correctly, when everything is always unpredictable in Eurovision.

There where not that many suprises in the Final because 20 of the 25 countries already revealed their shows in the Semi Finals. Only suprise was this Johnny Jump Charetor who decided to make an offical appreance under Spains song that came number 2 in the order. (made Spain so sad, that they got to perform yet again at the end after who played last) They did not score so many points, but i don’t think it was Johnny Jumps fault…

My evening was okay fun, Gf and me had 4 friends over for beers and show, she cheering for Greece, agreeing with another friend, that if Greece won, they would go and see the Eurovision there next year. Well Greece did not win either and i doubt they wanna go to Berlin next year. We will just have to wait and see :-D All out an nice evening with friends, cheesy and . Uhh uuhhhh, before i forget, Denmark got a 4′th place!? Whats up with that!?

Eurovision 2010 semifinal 2

Eurovision 2010 semifinal 2

Yesterday i watched the Semifinals on TV instead of being present myself in Telenor Arena. Simply because i did not have a free ticket :-D Well, Gf was watching the Masterchef program on tv, so i had to watch the first 3 songs streamed from the NRK , the rest i could watch on the TV. I did kind a bet on Denmark not making it through to the final, but was proven wrong. however did not make it through the semifinals! This is a big blow for for this is the first time ever that they have not participated in the finals. Well….. their song was really not that good, i thought it was a bit boring and the female singer had a pushed vibrator voice, that was a little bit wanne’be to country western singing. I am surprised that the danish entry got chosen for it sounds remarkable much as the Police/Sting number “missing you”

Well the semifinals 2 did as the 1 first one did, also come with a lot of cheese and chocolate covers. Like Holland/Netherlands that has a Hollandic Polka with two “figurines” standing there and moving in the background. And the wind-machine was also used all the way through the rest of the acts as well. Well just a nice and cheesy semi final as expected.

Right now I’m trying to figure out what songs are gonna get the top 3 at the Finals and the list looks like this for now.

Picture of the Danish entry from Eurovision.tv

1. Belgium – With the John Mayer guy Tom Dice, They have a very international sing’n'song hit right there, that i believe we will hear a lot more of, even though if it does not win.

2. Germany – Germany is one of the countries that are automatically in the finals (due to the cash they per to the Eurovision events) And the Lilly Allan wanna’be has a catchy tune that appeals to a lot of people. Just don’t watch the Music for you might find it annoying very very fast.

3. Turkey – Manga (i think it’s Manga) is the name of the group that is the entry from Turkey. They are well known in their land and the entry is also a quite alright rock-song with live instruments. We can’t get another “Lordi” act thats surprises with a rock song, but then again, they are not trying to, so they might have a real possibility, so that’s is why they might get to the top 3.

This is my bet for Eurovision 2010, so lets just see this Saturday how right or wrong i am. I might but some money on this bet as well.

Eurovision semi final 1

Eurovision semi final 1

You take a piece of bread (made of chocolate), add some chocolate spread and springle with chocolate chips and top it of with whipped cream and chocolate sauce and you get a Eurovision 2010 artist sandwich.

I’ve never been a fan of the in Eurovision (MGP) but MGP is more than just the , it’s about the experience and having fun. (If you don’t try to have fun you might run away screaming.)

Yesterday i attended the MGP semi final 1 at Telenor arena here in together with Gf and two other friends. We did not have the best seats in the arena, sitting all the way in the back. Lucky for us the arena had 2 big screens on each side, so everybody had a chance to see the action.

We started by getting the arena by buss and finding the rest of the way to the entrance. We went inside and tried to figure out where we could buy some beer and wine. We found the vendor but they only sold non-alcoholic beer and the wine costs 65 kr pr. glass. I took a Pepsi…..

The show started by the hostess welcoming people and giving some announcements like “don’t stand up during performances and don’t wave your flags around until the artist are done with the song” Apparently the arena is build so if you have to big flags and stand up, the cameras will catch the back of the audience and not the performer. As the warm up the singers from Wallmans sallons where performing different Eurovision songs and Abba.

The show started and the show started to transmit to the millions of viewers around the world, and the 3 hosts started doing their Norwegian/Frensh/English thing. The Semi final had 17 artists but only 10 will go on to the Final. Personally i think that Belgium did the best that evening with the performer Tom Dice. He was a simple sing/song writer and had the tune “Just me and my guitar” He had a wonderful voice but you might argue about if it was really John Mayer in a mask and with a name change. Belgium did had the biggest response when the song ended compared to any of the other countries.

And now the cheesy part. It’s no secret that many countries do what they can to stick out and be special, sometimes they have great succes (Remember Lordi from Finland?) and sometimes not that succesful (Remember Ukrainian entry from 2007? google it and you will) This semifinal most cheesy entry was in my opinion Russia. He was singing his heart out with a (drawn) picture of his girl in the hand and the wind machine blowing in his … Excuse me…. hehehehehehe.. funny.. But also we did see huge wings, Butterflies, Techno white dress, Violins, drums and very very VERY enthusiastic dancers.

Norway’s entry is bit to “creamy” as well and i don’t think they will make it to the top 10 in the final. The danish entry is on my opinion crap as well. But they will have to defend themselves at the Eurovision Semifinal 2 tomorrow thursday. Let’s start be seeing if they make it to the final.

I lost a lot for the Eurovision contest back where Denmark won the 1 place with Olson Brothers “Fly on the wings of love” When they got voted to the final in the Danish they sang the song on Danish, and the title was also “smukt som et stjerneskud”. But when they arrived to give their entry in the Eurovision, the entire thing was suddenly translated to English. Don’t really care that they won, for it was not the same song as we voted for in Denmark. I have the biggest respect for the countries who perform in their own language compared to singing in English (unless you of cause are from Ireland, England and so on)

Well, I’m wrapped in cheese and chocolate now, so i might as well watch the Semi Final 2 on TV, and on Saturday we are having a party where we drink some beers and watch the final. Attached here are some pictures from the Semi final Yesterday. Have fun.

17th of May in Norway

17th of May in Norway

The 17th of May in is a national holly day and . The Norwegians are celebrating the writing of the Norwegian constitution and their Independence from Denmark in 1814. Almost everyone has a way to show their patriotism for the country by having a flag or something to show of the Norwegian colors. The most common way they show are by wearing the official dress (also called Bunad). The Dresses that Norwegians wear are a bit like the Scottish kilts. But where the Scottish colors and decorations show what family they are from, the Norwegians dresses show more, from what region of the country they are from. The Gf’s dress is a blue dress with golden/Bronze pattens and jewelry. It represents the region around the area called Akershus and Lillestrøm.

All over the country the Norwegians celebrate the day, and walking around in Oslo might make you think that the entire country has gone to the Capital for the celebration. Soooo many people are waking around the streets, and you get pretty tired of either standing or walking in slow motion trying to get through the masses. I like the 17th of May, but it’s more my thing to find a spot or a café where you are able to sit down and just look at all the pretty people.

and I has returned to our where we are getting ready to celebrate with some friends. If the weather holds up, we might make some BBQ out in the garden of the building and if not, we will just cook the indoors and enjoy the rest of the evening as you should on the 17th of Maj.

you all have a nice celebration day, i will now sit down and scheme on how we can get Norway (and their oil millions) back to Danish territory.

Well Steam has finally been released for the Mac computers, so if you don’t have a Mac running an older outdated version of the operating system OS X, you can now install an join the community with ease.

Christina Rødstøl

Christina Rødstøl

Oktober 2009 was a particular hard time for Gf and me. One of ’s best friends died in a tragic accident attending a military drill here in . Christina died in a accident where she got run over by an Armored Personal Carrier (APC) (Read about it here in Norwegian) received a military funeral in her hometown, and Gf and i Both attended with her , closest friend and the brotherhood of people she had gotten in her battalion. Several months has passed now but still we of cause miss her very much. Christina was a happy girl and about to turn 20, and we had never imagined a thing like this could happen. This is of cause why they call these things accidents, but still it’s a hard thing to think about and we all miss her a lot. Gf and the has been a very good support for each other.

The last month the case of Christina Rødstøl has kind of been reopened. The Military has been issued a fine of about 10.000.000 NOK for the accident. This has raised a lot of questions in different areas like who is to be responsible? Is the fine justified?, what about the family?, Military rutines? And what about the Military sense it’s the government fining itself, plus some different other things. Of cause can no amount of money will bring Christina back or justify someones death. (you can read a bit more here in Norwegian, but take statements from the family with a grain of salt sense media are a bit to triggerhappy)

Many people has showed some interest in this entire story. So beside Christina’s memorial page on Facebook you can also participate in the discussions about the responsibility of her death and so on. It’s in Norwegian, but you can find the page here Hvem har egentligt ansvar for Christina Rødstøl sin død?

Christina. I want you to know that you leaving us has had a heavy toll in our hearts. You have become the soul mate of Maria and has been sense you first met. I was happy for ever getting the chance to meet you, and always carry with me the ways you have helped me and been there for Maria. Maria has not lost a Soul mate and she never will. The beautiful thing about being a soul mate is that you will never leave. We all carry you with us and Maria and your family always have you in their hearts and not the least, their soul. We all love you very much and think about you every day. I wrote in your memorial book at your funeral, that “I we will meet again at some point, but i’m yet not sure i’m going the same way up as you ;-)

- Kisses from
