Being X-mas and all, all the creative people who make stuff they made them selfs, comes out to play. And markets spring up all over time. Some make drawings and paintings, others make earrings and hats or even fruitbaskets. We visited a friend to day at one of these markets. She made the brand foxlicious. PanCakeBeaver.com is rolling again with renewed strength. I’ve used this weekend on getting cleaned up in the old Accounts. Starting out purchasing my bookkeeping program. I have had two Jobs for Why Not Theater Company, but with no means to make a desent invoive. Now the program is up and running the invoices are flying out. Of cause they are not going out as fast as i would like it to. Need a bit more Jobs for that.
To start boosting my company I’ve started to design a business card so i actually have something to hand out to people when asking Info or what i do. Just don’t know what Info or how it should look like just yet. But need the cards to boost the number of jobs so i can pay for the cards…. Not the only stuff that needs paying, also recently acquired a Sigma Lens, and a bag to carry it all. Love the lens, now i just need to fix a annoying back/front focus problem.
Yesterday I was by the Danish Design schools photo-lab, where they work with photography, and here this HUGE Beautydish was standing looking like it was abl to receive transmissions from Neptune. I want this at home in my living room…. I don’t need space for anything else do i? Pleaaaaase
Back in 2001 i went to school at a place called “Herning Højskole” A place where you could get a taste of different professions, hobbies and other creative choices. The school was specialized in Acting, theater directing, music, design and Journalism. A normal term of the school like this is a half year (or just about 4-5 months) where you would study what ever main road you choose, and two till tree different side classes. I picked the Acting line, with music, photography and outdoor life as my extras. The half year of the spring of 2001, is one of my happiest and best times of my life. Being 19 years old, everything was new, and a good breather for the 19 years before me. I’ve met a lot of cool people, whom some i still keep in touch with, and others not at all. Many i know how are doing thanks to social networks like facebook.
Meeting at a party (twice within the last 4 months) one of my friends from the school who attended the same line and was in my class, made me realize how much i also missed the school and the time i had there. Funny how some periods can brand your brain like that. Even have music i can’t hear without thinking of the people and the that specific time. K’s Choice, Baal and Inside the Whale, are some of the artists i can listen to, without reverting back to Herning Højskole in my emotions and my head.
The school itself was a great place to live. A huge building with 15 floors, where all the students where living. Paired up with two floors at the time (The elevator only stopped at every 2 floor) I lived on floor 3-4, together with the best bunch of people you could imagine. If we only had a supermarket or a kiosk at the ground floor, we would have no reason to leave the school premises. The teaching room, theater, workshops, living quarters, kitchen and more was all connected, so you only had to go outside if you needed to stock up on candy and beer or to take a sauna 20 meters away in a side building. (PS. Beer in sauna are great, no matter how hot it is, the beer will alway be colder than you, smooking in the sauna on the other hand, is a very very bad idea…)
Sadly the school is closed down now.. It was founded in 1967 and closed in 2007. The buildings has been sold and are now being used as dormitories. Don’t know if i will ever catch the feeling i get when thinking about Herning Højskole ever again. And very sad that others might miss the chance of going there. I will never forget the spring of 2001, and hopefully never forget the people that made Herning High such a very special place.

Smartphones and not just iPhone are now able to browse though my website with a simple interface. You can even go look in the image galleries. This means the phones does not have to load all the fancy design and such. But if you prefer to go through the site in the traditional way, you can disable the feature yourself, by going to the bottom and flipping the “mobile theme” switch off.

Within the last many days i have reinstalled my computers with Windows 7, and you quickly realize how many applications just for standard use that you need to reinstall. Here is the list of stuff i need on my systems for daily use.
Skype: Well, i pretty much need skype around for my communication needs.
MSN: beside Skype this is my main choice of keeping in touch with my friends.
Steam: No computer is the same without Steam. The main source of games i have at the moment are from Steam. So having it installed i always have access to pretty much my entire game library.
VLC player: Wacthing movies on the computer is what VLC player is for. There is pretty much no format that it can’t run. And it even supports subtitles with the possibility to make up for text/sound out of sync.
WinRar: Winrar is made for packing and unpacking files to formats like ZIP. Great little thing and 100% needed.
Daemon Tools: Sometimes you need a Virtual DVD/CD drive for mounting a IMG file. Like if you purchased a cd online and you need to burn it to a disc. Well sometimes you don’t need to waist CD, and you can just mount it on the virtual drive.
Spotify: All work and no fun makes Jack a dull boy, can’t breath without music now can we?
Firefox: Firefox is probably the best alternative to Internet Explorer. And watching and making photography, different browsers react differently two pictures. So it’s always good to have different browsers installed to watch them in. Plus some websites work better in one browser and others in others.
Firefox Addons: I’m using some essential addon’s for Firefox to help me in my daily work as well
English dictionary: Adding a English dictionary helps me with the spelling writing on my blog. It’s a automatic spelling checker, that works straight in the browser.
Fireshot: Fireshot is a cool little program for taking screen shots. You just press the button and you can edit it straight away, by adding text, highlights, highlighting squares and cropping.
Firebug: Firebug is a great addon when fixing on the design on he website. you can activate it and highlight areas of the page to see the HTML and the CSS styles. And you can edit the code straight from the browser to see the results right away. Of cause this is not a edit that get’s saved, but it will give you and ideér on how it will look like before you go and fuck up the real code.
iTunes: on my main computer at least i need to install iTunes. Beside of being my main program for organizing my music, i need it for keeping my iPhone backed up and updated.
So that was a little list of the essentials i need for running optimal on my systems. Beside the small apps like this of cause comes a lot of the bigger work flow applications like, Photoshop, Lightroom and the Office package. I have prolly forgot something, plus i have been using a lot programs during the time, but don’t remember to install them before i actually need them.

We added post from Mindscape, Random Posters, Wedding shoot, Against the Day and soon we will also add some random photo’s from concerts. Updating the site and making everything look good is a constant job. And it seems that we get really happy with the results of the design, and yet again, we still wanna change a lot of stuff!? Confused? I know we are. Well, when we have the time we might look into yet another way to show the design of the page. Lucky thing with WordPress is that you can switch in between the themes so if you make something you don’t like, you can always go back to the way it was before.

My old trimmer died in an accident with the sink. Well After the trimmer has had the time to charge through the night (it had to charge for about 16 hours according to the manual), i woke up today and set up the camera system for a review.
My first opinion on the Remington SCC-100 was of the design. I thought it looked really cool, and i could not wait to try it out. With a long slightly curved trimmer blade it looked like it would fit the scalp perfectly. And holding it was no problem as well. you had a good grip, and you hold it just as well in whatever hand you are using. But this is pretty much where the fun stops.. Let the trimming begin.
A know that according to the manual you have to comb out and straight out the hair so the machine has the best possible way to get the hair to the cutter. Having my hair type, this is really not an option without taking a bath first, but that would mean wet hair, and you can’t use the machine with wet hair, and letting the hair dry would again just make it look like it did before the shower. The machine has 3 attachments to the trimmer for the length of the hair. 1′st attachment i used is a attachment that cuts down to 13 millimeter (½ inch). And the manual states you have to use this first if your hair is over 13 mm long.
So on with the attachment and cut away.. and cut… and cut… and cut … cut… cut… You start to realize that the machine is not really getting the hair as it should. Okay gonna give the machine the benefit of the doubt sense i did not comb my hair. but after cutting and cutting and cutting i found out that the machine was clocking up with hair in the attachment. Okay, so you have to empty the attachment, but they could have mentioned that you need to empty the damn thing every 20 second! Soon i had to realize that the attachment that is supposed to cut down to 13mm is a piece of crap. It took waaaaaaaaaay to long to cut the hair down, and the stuff that it did cut was not even at all.
okay i have been trimming my own hair for 13 years now, and one thing i learned is, if the hair does not comply to the length you are trying to reach! you will need to cut it even shorter! Get even more down to the root of the hair. So i Quickly changed the attachment. The 2 attachment are able to cut between 3 – 12 mm (1/8 – ½ inch). The length i always aim for is around 7-9 mm, Then my hair is long enough for covering my scalp just about. So i attached the attachment and started to cut away.
This time i can feel and see that a lot more hair is coming off, so i was right about cutting further down the root. But i still had to cut and cut and cut and cut, and always emptying the attachment for hair. This also felt good on the scalp, i can feel how the machine follow the way my head is build and gently giving my head a massage. SO WHY THE HELL CAN’T IT CUT EVEN! I ended up looking like something from a fallout zone! No matter how much i ran the machine over a certain area it did not catch the hair and it looked awful. I tried a bit more but decided that i needed to take the machine and myself to the bathroom and finish the hair in front of a better mirror. This attachment sucked. I could not get it even and my scalp was getting a bit sour now from all that scalp massaging! Then i sadly realized that i needed to use the 3 attachment….
The 3 attachment is for the one who want to trim all the way down to 2mm… Seemed like that was the only way to get the hair even. So i stood there looking myself into the mirror while i kept on cutting and then it happened. The fucking machine ran out of power……. Already!?!?! What the fuck! I had to go fetch the cord so i could continue. I finished up the cutting of the hair and finally thought it was even all the way around but had to cut it at about 2mm to get it like that!
I then tried to cut the beard with the machine and without attachments, also here it was a bit hard to get around the hard edges like the chin. And also the missing mobility when having to do everything with the cord still in it.
Well after a quick shower to wash of the million of small hairs (and i really mean REALLY SMALL hair allover) i went in an shot a picture of the final result.
Verdict; This machine might have some good ideas with the design and the curved blade, but this is pretty much all the plus sides it got! The machine feels like it’s made for people with straight hair. Us with curly hair have no pleasure for this machine at all. The blade on hair trimmers usually runs horizontal across the scalp, this machine drags the blade vertical across the scalp! That’s like cutting the hair of a guy who is bound to a table with a pendulum where the attachment is the cutting blade! This machine gets a HUGE thumb down. It’s not worth the money and i am utterly disappointed of the product. And the battery dieing on me was just the last drop that made the glass spill over the edge. Next time i buy a Remington product is because i buy a Remington shotgun to blow the SCC-100 to bits!
This machine gets a rating of 1 / 10 (the 1 point is for the idea of the machine nothing else)
We have started to add content to the PanCakeBeaver.com website. We are quite happy with the design so far. Still have a few wishes for functionality and overview. Like i would like the Shadowbox plugin to work, so you are able to open up the pictures and view them in a bit larger size. Right now it’s not something that is possible, without opening the picture in a new window by itself. We choice not to use this options because it freeking fugly.
I would also like a bit better overview of the pages/posts on the front page. Like a little overview gallery so you are able to see how far in your post browsing you are, when clicking next (left/right) on the posts. Then people would be able to click straight to the post they wanna see instead of having to browse all the way through.
Well overall i’m happy about the PanCakeBeaver site, so it’s just to start adding some content. And let the promotion begin. (tell your peeps we are open for business)
Figuring out what categories i should have, and what type of posts i should post under Them. So far i have wazzup, photography, posters and a new one called food plus a fifth one “fashion” coming soon.
The wazzup cat. Had so far been used for All the really everyday nonsense i write about some times, my estimate at the moment is that 95% gets posted there. One of the reasons to add a bit more to get some spread in subject. You Can of cause always look up posts by “tags” instead. Tags is me individual post by post “tagging” sub subject. Like; Gf, Ærø, HomePage and design.
Photography is the place i place post that gave photographic value. This does not mean that just because there is a photo or if i write about some equipment that i Will post Them there. By value i mean that it has to be about a ongoing photo session that Will result in pretty pictures worth publishing. So i won’t ad a post there just because i have a iPhone picture.
The food cat. Is the place where i write about…. Well…. Food! “See what i have made” or “this is what i Will consume today.”
The posters category is not only posters, it Will also feature other sorts of “graphical” work. But for the moment i Think it’s just posters. Gonna Update that one with a lot more that i’ve made, also from the beaver project.
