Almost forgot to write a little something about the Alice in Wonderland we saw in the cinema last week. Well, i actually think it was a brilliant movie and Johnny, Helena and all the others all played it out really well. But what i would like to talk about is the 3D aspect. As you know Alice in Wonderland runs in a 3D and 2D at the cinemas. First time i was in the cinema to watch a 3D movie was the Avatar film. I was amazed about the 3D even thou we did not have the best spots in the room. I thought it would be better to sit all the way back in the room so you could get everything within the frames of the glasses, so you do not need to move the head and therefor ruining the “effect” of the 3D. But watching Alice in Wonderland made my perspective change a little bit again. We went to the Colosseum Cinema in Oslo and don’t know if my eyes was just tired that evening or if there actually are something wrong with the screen. Every time we are at Colosseum i bitch about that i think the screen in the main cinema “cinema 1″ is way to small compared to the room and numbers of seats cramped in there. Plus the screen is hung on a huge oval dome and can’t really be any bigger unless it will bend way to much. So i think the screen in cinema 1 is NOT suited for 3D effects movies.
The 3D effect did take a lot of time compared to last time to really be effective with me. I did not have this problem with Avatar. When it worked everything that was kind of like “Front, middle and behind” effect worked as i should (i think) But every time there was a effect that should be something “coming out of the screen” Or really distinct itself from the rest of what ever was on the screen, kind a died before reaching out. Like when the main character was holding a sword straight towards the audience and you can tell my the screen that it’s supposed to “pop” out of the screen. The cinema screen “cut of” the sword at the point killing the 3D effect totally. And this was pretty much ongoing all the way though the movie. (I actually don’t think that the screen is the right widescreen format as well)
Next time i have the chance to see a 3D movie and not being able to choice a different cinema i will not be going unless i can get the seat right in the center of the room.
Well.. The movie is still worth seeing if you like me always has been a sucker for Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton and the rest of his crazy crew. Attached is the picture of Gf and me prepping our glasses for the movie.
